West Haven PD Introduces Crisis Intervention Team

The West Haven Police Department held an introduction to their new Crisis Intervention Team on Friday Dec. 5th at Savin Rock Conference Center.

Mental health providers and advocates from the community were invited to learn more about the team in presentations led by Capt. Ken Edwards of the New London Police Department and Sgt. John Jarvie of the West Haven Police Department.

Team members are all graduates of the first Statewide CIT training held in May of 2003. They are:
Lt. Lorie Tamaro, Sgt. John Jarvie, Ofc. Chris Cinque, Ofc. Dave DeCicco, Ofc. Jeff Gabianelli, Ofc. Marty Garcia, Ofc. Bill Oakley, and Ofc. Dave Perez.

Captain Ken Edwards of the New London Police Department discusses the CIT model with Stella Cretella of the Connecticut Chapter of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.
